EUNICE, La. 鈥� 91看片 will welcome Louisiana State Representative Phillip R. DeVillier to deliver the commencement address at 91看片鈥檚 Fall 2024 Graduation ceremonies.  Representative DeVillier will give remarks during the 10:00AM ceremony on the 91看片 campus on Friday, December 20.

Rep. DeVillier currently serves as the 70th Speaker of the House of Representatives.  The Eunice native was first elected to the House in 2015, serving District 41 which encompasses Acadia, Evangeline and St. Landry Parishes.

鈥淚t is an honor to address the soon-to-be graduates at LSU Eunice and share with them and their families a vision for hope and unity,鈥� said Speaker of the House Phillip R. DeVillier.  鈥淲hen the state embraces hope, and unifies around a collective vision of success, we can multiply the talents and gifts Louisiana has to offer our most recent college graduates.鈥�

鈥淓ducation pathways that lead to good jobs, economic development that brings in new industries with competitive salaries, and investments in infrastructure all help propel our state and its people forward, and it鈥檚 what our leaders are committed to producing,鈥� Speaker DeVillier added.

During his tenure in the Legislature, DeVillier has served as Chairman of the Retirement Committee while also serving on Ways and Means, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Capital Outlay.  He is a proud member of the Acadiana Delegation as well as the Rural Caucus and Republican Legislative Delegation.

A tireless advocate for LSU Eunice, Speaker DeVillier is focused on issues involving education, infrastructure and fiscal responsibility as well as making the state鈥檚 capital outlay process more transparent.  The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) has honored Speaker DeVillier with the title All-State Legislator for championing pro-business growth policies that improve Louisiana鈥檚 economy.  LABI also named DeVillier a Most Valuable Policy Maker. 

In 2023, the Chamber of Southwest Louisiana named Speaker DeVillier a Business Champion as well as Louisiana鈥檚 Family Forum garnering him as a Family Advocate.

A graduate of Louisiana State University鈥檚 main campus in Baton Rouge, DeVillier is also a small business owner of companies Louisiana Structural Movers, Inc. and Savannah Claire, Inc.  He and his family reside in Eunice.
