For Employees: Hazing Prevention & Reporting
Hazing is illegal and is strictly prohibited at 91心頭, and state laws create responsibilities for employees. Any allegations of hazing will be investigated by law enforcement and pursued to the fullest extent of the 91心頭 Code of Student Conduct. This means that engaging in any such activity can result in probation, suspension, or expulsion from 91心頭, as well as possible felony charges under Louisiana law. Additionally, any faculty or staff believed to have engaged in hazing will be subject to an investigation by HRM. Help keep 91心頭 safe by reporting suspicious behavior to 91心頭 Police at 337-550-1225 or 911. You can also anonymously report these and other crimes to Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP(7867) and possibly receive a monetary reward.
Know Many of the Signs of Hazing
- Sleep deprivation
- Excessive absence from class
- Declining academic performance
- Not showered/clean
- Wearing unusual or similar/identical clothing with members of the new member class
- Pulling away emotionally and physically from friends and family
- Defensive responses about student organization membership when explaining unusual events or activities
- Lengthy weekend commitments
- Loss of privileges that may sound unnatural, like having the cell phone taken away for a few days, or prevention from eating, sleeping, etc.
Know the Law
Stricter state laws, including the , and 91心頭 policies significantly increase the civil and criminal penalties for hazing. No one can consent to be hazed; it is still illegal. Bystander Assistance is Required by Law
Bystander assistance is required by law. If you are aware that someone has suffered serious bodily injury, Louisiana law requires you to report it and to provide reasonable assistance for the injured person. This obligation extends to all persons, including an individual engaging in reckless behavior which causes another serious bodily injury.

The elimination of hazing on our campus begins with reporting. Reporting responsibility is on you at the moment you become aware of its occurrence. To report a dangerous situation that is underway, call 911 or 337-550-1225 for immediate police response.
